We work to provide quality veterinary care for your
pets in a friendly, compassionate atmosphere.
Welcome
to Athens, Georgia, home of the University of Georgia and the Georgia Bulldogs!! Our population explodes during the school year, but the rest of the year we are a quiet, rural town in Northeast Georgia. Since the University of Georgia has one of the finest veterinary teaching colleges in the country, we have access not only to the animal medical, research, and diagnostic facilities, but to young, bright upcoming future veterinarians as well. We have had many pre-vet and vet students who've worked with us. They are getting a great education from the University of Georgia School of Veterinary Medicine AND an excellent education in people skills from the Winterville Animal Clinic.
Dr. Don Cole is the owner and President of Winterville Animal Clinic. Even though he is an LSU graduate, we let him stay because he is a great vet! Dr. Cole is a compassionate and caring doctor. His diagnosing capabilities are outstanding and clients appreciate the medical care he provides their animals. He is respected by his peers and his staff is starting to understand his humor!
Dr. Wayne Brubaker, founder of Winterville Animal Clinic, is “home grown”. After graduating from the University of Georgia School of Veterinary Medicine, he decided to stay here in Georgia and practice medicine. This has benefited many people and their pets over the years. He has an excellent reputation in the area of not only being a wonderful doctor, but a fair and compassionate one as well.
Dr. Matthew Groover is our other full-time vet. He is a recent graduate from the University of Georgia School of Veterinary Medicine. He brings new technology and youthful exuberance to our group of veterinarians. Already he has established himself with our clinic and our community and we look forward to many years of great medicine from Dr. Matthew.
We also have three other part-time veterinarians. They are all University of Georgia School of Veterinary Medicine graduates: Dr. Amy Shiver, Dr. Jenna Hennessy and Dr. Anne Shirley. The diversity brought to us by this group of veterinarians allows us to diagnose and treat patients quickly and effectively.
Our staff consists of friendly, outgoing people who are also compassionate and caring. They can deal with the happiness a new puppy or kitten brings to its' owner or they can be quietly consoling during the loss of a beloved pet. We greet all clients personally when they come in our door. As busy as we might be at times, we still speak to each pet owner when they come in. If you are new to the area, just “visiting” for a few years as a student or have been in the Winterville/Athens area for quite some time, we invite you to bring your pets to the Winterville Animal Clinic for a GREAT Veterinary experience!
